The course is the green lung of the San Juan Beach and the most characteristic and internationally renowned element in Alicante Golf. It is one of the first urban golf courses, since it is just ten minutes by car from the city.

This course has also a golf school located on nine par 3 holes. These holes have a very varied design with all the possible distances, even for the use of woods. Its characteristic feature is that greens are wide and are defended by strategically situated bunkers.

It is the first course in the country with three par 3, three par 4 and three par 5 holes. Wide but with many "out of bounds" and "water hazards", it is considered the ideal course for precise players.

One of the particular characteristics of this course is the 14th hole, in which the golfer must succeed in making the ball overfly the remains of a Roman "domus" that was discovered when building the course.

This wonderful golf course was designed by the brilliant Severiano Ballesteros, who left his signature in the 9th hole, where the lake on the left of the green forms an unmistakable "S".

It has been very carefully modelled. Its shapes are gentle with special details in the drawing: this creates a very nice effect and gives each hole its own personality. Its facilities are very complete.

This course is a challenge both for inexperienced and outstanding golfers. Strategy, organization and control of all the golf clubs are the qualities required by this course.

Notwithstanding the fact that it is one of the most recently created golf courses in the Comunidad Valenciana, it already has a great number of visitors. It was inaugurated in October 1995 and receives about 60,000 golfers a year: this confirms it is a Commercial Course and at the same time proves its quality. Very important events have been held here such as the Final of the National Professional Golf Circuit in 1997 and 1998, the Spanish Junior and Boys Championship in 2000, and the Costa Blanca Challenge of the European Challenge Tour in the same year.

The variety of trees, its lakes and water hazards, the high number of bunkers and wide greens arranged in an amusing design by Ramon Espinosa turn Bonalba Golf Course into an interesting and appealing challenge for both the amateur and the professional golfers.

A slope rating of 132 from the yellow bars shows us the degree of difficulty of the course. The first 9 holes are very technical, as the golfer has to overcome three of the five existing lakes, which play an important role in five of the first nine holes of the round. The three last holes in this first round can spoil even the best score card, since they are the handicaps 1 (par 4), 13 (par 3) and 3 (par 4) of the course. These three holes have been called by local players as the Bonalba "Amen Corner".

The second 9 holes, being also quite technical, require a stronger stroke. They are holes where he dominant breeze from Levante makes it difficult to reach the green, normally forcing the golfers to use more "woods" than usual, especially on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes, where the golfers play into the wind.

An anecdote: there are no blind holes in Bonalba, so players can always see the flag when reaching the green. That is why Bonalba has been described by professionals as a Noble Course, where a good score card depends on a proper reading of the greens that, with gentle slopes, show a high degree of difficulty.

It was built in 1976 and designed by Gregorio Sanz and Pedro Barber.

Located in the foothills of the Sierra Bernia mountain range, it is a course characterized by its luxuriant vegetation and protected by the sea on one side and on the other side by the mountain. It is far from buildings and constructions.

The course's main appeal is that extremely difficult holes alternate intelligently with recovery holes.

It is located in a fertile valley surrounded by pine and carob trees and has a breathtaking view of the sea and the Peñon de Ifach rock.

It has been opened since 1974. It was designed by Javier Arana as a short and difficult course, with numerous obstacles. Trees and bunker hazards give this course a high degree of difficulty and in consequence its 9 short holes require precision.

El Plantio was designed by Manuel Ferri Sánchez and opened in 1993.

From its conception to its construction, El Plantio was conceived as a club with extraordinary and unique characteristics in the Comunidad Valenciana.

It has two courses offering many challenges for the golfer, as for example the two lakes and the greens.

The design, the wide tees and big greens, the spacious fairways and the fact there are no dead fairways make these courses stand out. The complex has a surface area of 750,000 square metres, and in it there are 45,000 trees and 15.000 flowering plants: trees and plants add an exotic touch to the course.

Environment has been meticulously respected. In fact, it was the first golf course that complied with the regulations and guidelines included in the Environmental Impact Act, it was a pioneer in using purified sewage for watering and chose a special kind of grass mixing different varieties which are very resistant to high temperatures in order to save water. And we must remember that it is the only golf course in the Costa Blanca that has not developed any real estate promotions. Here, golfers play the most important role.

It was designed by Carmelo Gracias Caselles and opened in 1989.

It is located in a former country estate about 100 metres above the sea level and is bordered to the south by an artificial river, the Tagus-Segura water transfer canal. It has a luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation as well as decorative plants such as oleanders, mimosas, willows, olive trees, etcetera. The course runs through two connected valleys, surrounded by small and gentle hillocks with a first-quality grass dotted with lakes.

The round is very varied. Although ascents are not very complicated, strokes to reach the green are very difficult since some points are situated very high owing to the ground characteristics, protected by bunkers and exposed to wind.

Fairways in Campoamor are very wide and long and they seem to be very easy. However, the slope of the greens and the fairways create difficult rounds and offer a good challenge.

Monforte del Cid

Alenda Golf was designed by Golden Fairways and became federated in 1997.

It is situated very close to the Sierra de las Aguilas mountain range and has a wonderful sea view. The Club House is a completely restored old farming house.

In this course located in Monforte del Cid, long game and putt are very important. The first 9 holes are entertaining and easier to play, with wide fairways that help on tee shots and are surrounded by pine, carob and palm trees. On the contrary, the second 9 holes require more concentration, because this is the technical part of the course where accuracy is more important than distance.

With a gentle, undulating and varied round, it is a very entertaining course for players of all levels, who will need to use all their clubs. It is quite a quick round, as all the holes are linked together and wide (that helps with the start stroke) and the walks from green to tee are short.

It is located in a flat valley between mountains. It is not an excessively difficult course and so players of all levels will enjoy it.

The course offers interesting obstacles and water hazards. Perhaps a very experienced golfer might find it too easy, but most of the players will find it very pleasant. Many pine and palm trees create a wonderful environment and allow you to enjoy a fantastic golf day.

It is a course located on mountainous ground, so it is very interesting for those players who like to take a few risks. As it is very mountainous, it calls for difficult strokes.

It is worth mentioning that there are many trees surrounding the course and water hazards. There are slopes all along the course and although some of them are very difficult, they make the game more attractive and interesting.

The place oozes class as soon as you wander through the entrance gardens, which are completed with a fountain and a statue of an angelic lady golfer.

It is a course on coastal sandy ground with some pine trees. A good test of golf open to the breeze.
